“ The restaurant is clean. The food is good, seasoned well and service is quick and friendly. It's definitely our go to for quick soul food in the area. ”
“ The food was amazing and the service was great, the inside clean and they were playing gospel which is always a good thing for me. Now here is the break down of each food item I got. Neckbones: 10/10 because I don't know how to make them. Chicken: 10/10: I don't like to make fried chicken in my home, so when I am able to enjoy some I'm excited. Mac and cheese: 5/10 because my Mac and cheese is really good! Greens: 10/10 I can make some great greens but their flavor was amazing!!!!! Cornbread: 10/10 Yams: 7/10 because I like how I make my yams. They were tasty though Banana pudding: 5/10 I like how they had whole chunks, but their flavor mix was a little watery. I would have given establishment a 5 star but the door says they open at 12:00 on Saturday, and when they did open they weren't ready to serve. I think it is essential for companies to be ready to serve, at the time it states on the establishment. This can be considered highly unprofessional. Nevertheless, the gentleman that helped me was very nice! I would just say that black businesses as a whole need to do better by opening and being prepared on time. I experience this a lot with our community. ”
“ I want this place to be so popular ! delicious gravy, catfish was perfectly flakey and fresh, the macNCheese was missing some depth the the rue. Oxtail and oxtail gravy were delicious and we will def go back for more. ”
“ I've been here several times I came today to write a review and have lunch because of the other reviews that I saw.. One person said this was a hit and miss, but they are mistaken. The name of this restaurant says it all soul food express.. Because it is a to go soul food place and the price point is excellent from time to time they may run out of an item or two! The food is very tasty. It is what I grew up on. They offer a huge selection of meats and sides. The dining room is very spacious and they tend to play R&B Classics today they were playing an upbeat, rap music. The staff is very friendly and they are open daily.! I highly recommend! ”
“ In honor of Black History Month, I took part in a self guided foodie tour to support several black owned businesses. One of which was Southern Express Soul Food. I even had the pleasure of meeting the owner herself. The one & only... Miss Tammy, along with several other staff members, all of whom were extremely pleasant, very inviting and wonderfully hospitable. The restaurant itself is well kempt with ample seating, and a large TV in the dining area. as far as the food goes, everything was perfect and everyone loved everything. From the fried chicken to the baked chicken to the barbecue chicken to the cornbread to the macaroni & cheese, and my most favorite above all else... the greens! My only tiny helpful tip if you will would be, I wish the menu was more prominently displayed. Other than that everything was absolutely perfect. Miss Tammy and the crew definitely know how to do soul food right Southern Express Soul Food ”
“ Came here for lunch & we loved it! My hubby took one bite of my fried chicken & got up & bought more! It was that good! Perfectly seasoned & fresh! I hate fried chicken that's been sitting there for hours! He got the bbq chicken & every bite was amazing! We both got the sausage & it was okay. The yams & the green beans were amazing. Fresh corn bread we loved everything! The service is fast & they were really nice! Ambiance it's a fast cafeteria style place but nice & clean! Check out their instagram!
